Anesthesia

Surgery is performed either under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. Local anesthesia is the BEST for performing male breast surgery because the cost is less, the risks associated with general anesthesia are not present, recovery is very quick, no overnight stay is required and patients can usually go back home immediately after surgery. Sedatives are not used in Prof. Adhikari’s surgical practice. However, postoperative instructions need to be followed strictly so as to minimize the possibility of complications.

General Anesthesia is usually used for large grade male boobs where quite a bit of skin tailoring may be required. It is also provided for patients who do not want to undergo the surgery under local anesthesia. Experienced anesthetists administer the general anesthesia so that the whole process is smooth. However, patients need to stay overnight in the facility if general anesthesia is administered and are discharged the next day.
